Ying C. Song, M.D., Ph.D., Member, Xytex Medical Advisory Board, is Scientific Director of Xytex Research Inc., and Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Surgery and Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. Dr. Song earned his M.D. at Xuzhou Medical College, China, in 1983 and his Ph.D. in biophysics at the Medical Research Council, UK, in 1992. His endeavors in cryopreservation and tissue banking have earned him research positions at the University of Michigan and the University of Washington where he served as Director of the Cardiac Research Lab. He managed surgery programs for Charleston-based Organ Recovery Systems Inc. before joining Xytex, where he continues to develop cutting-edge tissue banking technologies. Dr. Song is extensively published in the fields of vitrification and tissue engineering, and among his numerous honors, is currently a member of the Editorial Board of Cryobiology.
