Julian W. Osbon is Chairman and CEO of Osbon & Associates, a holding company in Augusta, Georgia, that owns and operates Soma Blue Medical Systems, Hancock Mill Development Co., Professional Property Management Co., and The Marbury Center. In addition, Mr. Osbon serves as Chairman and CEO of Accelerated Pharmaceuticals, a biotech startup company with propriety technology for drug discovery based on computer modeling. He currently serves as a member of the Wofford College Board of Trustees, the Medical College of Georgia Foundation Board, the Medical College of Georgia Research Institute Board and the Board of Directors of First Bank of Georgia. Mr. Osbon formerly served as chairman of the boards of directors of the CSRA Community Foundation, University Health Care Foundation, Historic Augusta, Augusta History Museum and Augusta Tomorrow. The State of Georgia recognized him as the SBA Business Person of the Year and also presented him with the Spirit of Georgia Award for economic contributions to the state. In 1999 the Governor of Georgia appointed Mr. Osbon to chair a Georgia Senate Joint Study Group to make recommendations about the future of the Medical College of Georgia and Augusta-area hospitals. The Georgia Cancer Initiative resulted from that effort, as did the separation of the MCG Hospitals into a stand-alone profit center. During 2000-2001 he served as a member of the MCG Presidential Search Committee. For his innovative contributions to U.S. Exports, Mr. Osbon was awarded the Presidential “E” Award by the President of the United States. He has been featured in business articles in The Wall Street Journal.
