Renee Martin, Ph.D., F.C.C.M.G., Member, Xytex Medical Advisory Board, earned her doctorate in Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia in 1975. She joined the Faculty of Medicine in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Calgary in 1978. Since 1988, Dr. Martin has served as a full professor in the department. She became a fellow of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists in 1981 and was president of the college from 1997-1998. A very active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, she was president form 1992-1993. Dr. Martin’s research focus is on the causes of chromosome abnormalities in humans, with a particular focus on human sperm. She has enjoyed continuous funding from the Medical Research Council/Canadian Institutes of Health Research since 1983 and has more than 180 referenced publications. She is an Associate Editor for the journal of Human Reproduction. Most recently, Dr. Martin was awarded the Canada Research Chair in Genetics.
